Red Door Interactive is a national, award-winning marketing agency headquartered in San Diego. From its beginnings in Downtown San Diego in 2002, Red Door Interactive has grown to over 90 employees, with two offices and worldwide remote locations.
COMPANY
NEED
In 2020, Red Door Interactive planned to expand operations in San Diego with a newly purchased office building. Located in San Diego’s vibrant Sherman Heights, a designated Opportunity Zone and Promise Zone, Red Door hoped its new campus is a step toward bringing more awareness and investment to the neighborhood. Given the sizable purchase for the company, Red Door Interactive reached out to EDC for help navigating the permitting process, and years later, for promotional support when the project was completed.
EDC SOLUTION AND SUPPORT PROVIDED
For immediate support, EDC provided a catered list of incentives and resources to assist the company’s expansion.
EDC also introduced company leadership to staff at the City of San Diego’s Economic Development Department (EDD) who supported Red Door in meeting permitting requirements for the new facility and shared estimated timeline based on the project’s specific needs—helping deliver the company’s vision for a dynamic, mixed-use office space which officially opened in May 2022.
To celebrate the milestone, EDC’s marketing team partnered with Red Door to host a ribbon cutting ceremony together with business and community leaders. EDC led media outreach to local news outlets and managed invitations to local elected officials—securing attendance from Lizzie Rodriguez, District 8 Council Representative, who presented a certificate to Red Door’s founders during the event. Also in attendance to celebrate were members of EDD staff and EDC President and CEO Mark Cafferty, who gave congratulatory remarks during the event program.
VALUE DERIVED
The new three-building campus features panoramic views of Downtown San Diego, a variety of collaboration hubs, seven outdoor patio spaces, an urban garden, and state-of-the-art technology for interactive video conferencing throughout the campus, among other amenities.
Outreach for the ribbon cutting ceremony secured three media placement in the Times of San Diego and San Diego Metro. Dedicated EDC social media posts also garnered more than 11,000 impressions and received high engagement rates.
Congratulations to @reddoor on its new HQ! 🎉

“The efforts and expertise of EDC’s team were invaluable to our expansion in Sherman Heights. From helping navigate an arduous permitting process amid COVID-19, to supporting on and even supplying the scissors for our ribbon cutting, we were glad to have EDC in our corner. A proud San Diego company, Red Door’s new office reflects our fiercely independent culture and vision for the future of the modern workplace”
