San Diego Regional EDC and our Foundation offer a competitive internship program that provides students with valuable experience in economic development, marketing and communications, research, and more. An independently funded non-profit organization, EDC promotes the San Diego business community, facilitates business expansion in a variety of industries, and supports the diverse talent pool that drives their success, and is dedicated to rebuilding a post-pandemic economy that is more inclusive and resilient than before so prosperity reaches more people.

EDC’s Talent Initiatives team is seeking an individual to support talent-related programming especially with tasks related to communications and database management. This is a part-time, temporary internship. An intern can expect to work 10-15 hours per week, at least half the time on site, and to serve in the role until June 30, 2025. EDC offers a flexible schedule including remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The pay is $22/hour.

Core responsibilities and key qualifications: 

  • Enthusiastic about impact: Committed to advancing educational outcomes, equity, social mobility, and creating innovative solutions.
  • Comfortable with technology: Highly attentive to detail and able to manage tasks in a customer relationship management (CRM) system such as Salesforce, or generally familiar with contact databases. Tasks will include logging interactions, tracking updates, and managing data. Familiarity with technology and quick adaptability are key to success in this role.
  • Skilled writer: Strong writing abilities to craft engaging blogs, emails, social media posts, and other communications. The intern will draft content that highlights the talent team’s activities, insights, and achievements.
  • Effective communicator: Able to clearly update and report on tasks, workload, and availability.
  • Organized and proactive
  • Flexible and able to provide administrative support: Comfortable with general office management and assisting EDC staff with administrative tasks as needed. There will be cross-team assignments. EDC operates with a collaborative culture where all team members, including leadership, contribute to every aspect of the organization.
  • Resourceful and quick learner: Eager to pick up new skills and adept at using key tools:
    • Databases: Salesforce
    • Spreadsheets: Excel and Google Sheets
    • Word processing: Microsoft Word, Google Docs
    • Presentation software: PowerPoint
    • Survey tools: Qualtrics
    • Creative platforms: Canva, Figma, InDesign, etc.
