EDC Investors and Board Members lead initiatives through the following committees and activities:

Economic Development

In 2019, the committee has several efforts underway to retain, expand and attract companies and talent in the region. Committee projects for the year include positioning San Diego as a hub for drone technology, supporting startups along the 78 Corridor, supporting development of a stronger local talent pipeline, and our continued work to drive a regional inclusive growth strategy. All projects are volunteer-led, significantly supported by EDC staff:

  • Meetings: Quarterly on the last Friday of the month, 7:30-9:30 am


San Diego Leadership Lunches

Monthly briefings with special guests and local elected officials. Join more than 20 investors for informative presentations related to transportation, significant developments and projects, utilities and other regional assets. 

  • Chair: Phil Blair, Manpower

  • Meetings: 4th Tuesday of the month, 12-1 pm


Brand Alliance

A group of more than 90 San Diego company representatives (majority HR and marketing professionals) that are committed to telling San Diego’s story. This group serves as unofficial advisors to San Diego: Life. Changing., a regional branding campaign to attract talent to San Diego.


Global Competitiveness Council (GCC)

A group of senior business, academic, government and civic partners overseeing World Trade Center San Diego, and the implementation of the region's overarching trade and investment strategy. GCC advises on WTC San Diego programming, helps to generate public support, financial resources and coordination mechanisms for the broader strategy; and issues periodic trade and investment policy recommendations on behalf of the region.

  • Meetings: Quarterly on the 2nd Friday of the month, 2-3 pm


Research Advisory Committees

EDC produces a variety of research products including in study sector economic impact reports. We engage volunteers to form advisory committees comprised of sector experts to guide each study. In 2017, EDC will release sector reports on technology, genomics and more.

The Committee is responsible for ongoing review and recommendations to enhance the quality of the Board of Directors, governance and annual audit oversight.
